Early in the “Poddy Rules the World!” research project I created these Poddy prints that are an homage to the posters that Gilbert designed for the Vulcan Gas Company in Austin, Texas during the 1960’s. The original posters were created using a “split fountain inking” technique where two different colors are loaded into the different ink troughs of an offset press, creating a natural blending. I emulated this process with the screen prints by manually blending the colors on the screen.
